Alone in the world

“Sunrise Rose”

As part of my neon roses series, here is my newly installed “Sunrise rose”, I was looking forward to bring this vision to life for a little while now and is so satisfying to be able to finally capture it here on the East Coast. Waves this day were beautiful, it was such a powerful morning, i’m grateful again for having water on my side.

Escapadas: Sam’s point preserve

Hello,

I’m here to share a wonderful idea for you to get out of the city for the day!, Sam’s Point preserve is a beautiful place to visit these days, located in a small town called Craigsmoor by the Minnewaska area, just about 2 hours north from Brooklyn. You can spend a few hours there hiking, doing a picnic or just be there admiring nature and feeling peaceful.
sad to hear that some trails are closed there tho, like the ice caves trail, so be informed about trail closures and other alerts, in the meantime these are my highlights.

Peace 🌾

Teresa.

SUN Rising

I wish I could live by the beach and be able to admire sunrises or sunsets from there more often, if you follow me on instagram you must know by now how much I share my love for these two phenomenons and how I like to light up neons at the beach too. Recently I went to Rockaway to photograph my newest neon rose called “Sunrise rose”, in that piece I talk about the ability to rise and become better, to grow and learn at the same time, to come from a lower place in your life to a higher position and more. Sun did not disappointed me, it looked so beautiful and a bit unusual to be honest, I will share the neon rose photo soon but in the meantime here’s this image.

Until next time,

Teresa.

On a previous post I shared my shark dive adventure in Montauk but I didn’t tell you I had extra time to go for a short hike by the beach, so here are some images from that, this is such a nice trail to the beach, next time you go to Montauk make a stop at this state park, is so nice.

Short post!, see ya later,

Teresa.

escapadas: SHARK DIVE IN MONTAUK

Hey friends,

I recently went for a shark dive because I wanted to be close to sharks, i’m learning about their importance in the ecosystem and in our lives so this for me was very exciting! i’ve seen sharks but only in Aquariums. We’ve been taught that sharks are monsters because of many cases of sharks biting humans but the reality is that we are not part of their food menu and we’re not the prey they’re looking for. They’re the one species that keep the ocean healthy. Every single day thousands of sharks are being killed because of finning and other practices and they’re many species are endangered. Sharks are important and we must respect them as well as our dear ocean.

Sadly we weren’t able to see any except 1 shark fin that day so I’m gonna have to go back another time. I went with a company called Sea Turtle, based in Montauk, NY. I had a great time except the part when got seasick and ended throwing up multiple times haha, Captain suggested to swim in the ocean so I jumped in the water and that made me feel better, twice, amazing!

See ya soon Montauk.

NEON BOOBS: 3 STORIES

NEON BOOBS.png

I have 3 stories for you today.

All my boobies creations represent a woman and a story, today I posted on my instagram this photo below about 3 of my neon boobs artworks and I want to tell you about it.

From left to right:

1.- “Dominga”, that’s my abuelita’s name (RIP) she had big ones, so does my mom and of course, myself, thanks Minga (that’s how we used to call her) and all my big boobs ancestors haha, it wasn’t until a few years ago that i finally accepted the fact that i had big boobs and started feeling good about it. I grew up feeling ashamed of them, they were just so big, but these are the coconuts that I was meant to have so there’s nothing I can do about it. This piece talks about genes and heritage, generations and family resemblance from woman to woman.

2.- “Plus, we’re not perfect”, these are big boobs and uneven, because that’s normal, I’m talking about naturally plus size girls, a lot of plus size women aren’t happy with their bodies, even skinny girls aren’t but none of us are perfect and that’s okay, so let’s just try to carry that weight in the best possible and healthy way.

3.- “Bipolar”, to all of you with a bipolar disorder struggling everyday, going from one or many positive thoughts to negative ones, you’re still going to be loved, hang in there and ask for help, know the symptoms and talk to your family, I’m no expert and I don’t want to hurt anyone with my thoughts so I’ll stop right there because i don’t know how that feels like, but I will continue celebrating all of you chicas no matter what.

travels suspended

Hi guys,

I woke thinking about my adventures from last year and I had to to revive my road trip so I went to the Death Valley memories on my iPhone and oh la la, if you follow me for a little while now, you probably know how much I loved visiting Death Valley National Park, it was just so beautiful (and hot), I would never recommend enough. Is so nice to revive good times, thank god for technology huh?

The world is suffering and Mother Earth is angry with all of us, this is a sacred punishment that was sent to us and we need to acknowledge and must try to change for better and take care of ourselves and our planet. I’m really happy I was able to make this trip at that time, it was just right timing. I know things will get better someday and we’ll be okay if we take care of ourselves and others, really!, but in the meantime, no West Coast adventures until new notice, I had my trip planned to visit the PNW but travels are suspended. So all I have is my memories and trying to find new local adventures instead! Hey, i’m going to a Shark Dive next week and I can’t wait!!! Right on time for Shark Week.

Where are you traveling next in the US? What is your favorite National Park? When do you think we can travel again?

Light & Love,

Teresa.

BANDANAS

Hello,

I wanted to tell you about my new bandanas I have now available to shop!

See I’m a simple girl, I rarely wear makeup or heavy accessories, but sometimes wears very specific things like heart shaped earrings, seashell anklets or cowboy boots, yeeeeha!!! and my favorite thing: bandanas! I wear them around my neck or on my hair, depending on my mood and the rest of my outfit/activity, I like wearing. them on a fancy night or for go hiking, road trips, etc. Last year I was at my studio working and thinking I should came up with my own bandana design featuring one of my neon artworks and then I thought maybe I should use the roses I photograph at the beach as an inspiration and that’s when I decided I wanted to use the roses and a possible neon rose to extend my collection called “Soy las Rosas, you’re my ocean”.

I started playing and creating doodles on paper bond and created a board on a wall, months later in December I won an iPad, i’m no designer and I can’t draw well but I started playing and sketching on the iPad, I bought a pen too, is so much fun to use it, and I like where I was going with the ideas except I knew I needed help somehow! It was 2020 already and my goal was to have the bandanas ready for this Summer, it was going to be almost a year, I had everything figured out except the designs. We were in the middle of the Pandemic in March and I got a message one day from a dear friend through instagram, I think the universe sent him to me because he is an artist, graphic designer, illustrator, etc. It was Thiago asking me how I was ? and I knew exactly at that moment that we was the perfect person to help me with my bandana project, I told him about my ideas, I shared a board and my doodles and he was listening, he came up with these 3 designs that I love. So thanks to him my vision came to life, it was really great working with him! He vibes high, he is caring, creative, vibrant, unique, colorful, talented human and i’m so proud of him.

Please take a moment to know more about his work and I hope you like the bandanas and I can inspire you to wear them and spice up your style, you can go to my shop online or just send me a Venmo @Terebomba

Thanks for reading and extra thank you for your support,

Love & Light,

Teresa.

Charging batteries

Today was a hot day, I almost felt like I was about to give up the idea of my beach plans after a ride to Midtown, I barely go to the city anymore but I had to do a small job earlier there, I haven’t use the subway since March so everywhere I go I either bike or walk so crossing the Williamsburg bridge 2 ways on a Citi bike in one of the hottest days was no joke and on the top of that the inclination of the bridge is ahhhh!,but once I got back and got cool at home I packed my lunch and grabbed my camera and headed to la playa for a much needed recharging time, now i’m ready for another week of hard work, that’s another story about how people behave dining outdoors, I’ll tell you another time .

I wish the beach was closer to me so I can see the sunrise or sunset more often, in the meantime, enjoy some of the photos I took :) i’m no photographer but I like playing with the camera whenever I can.

Light & Love,

Teresa.

Sunset Rose

Hi, I’m again so happy to share my most recent neon artwork with all of you.

All the elements came together in such a magical way for me yesterday at Rockaway Beach, here in New York; my vision came to life exactly the way I wanted it, although is really hard to photograph neon lights and I don’t own a prime lens but i’m satisfied with the results because I got that 1 shot I was looking for. If you follow my work you know I play with roses at the beach all the time and that is my main inspiration for this, I have a deep respect for the ocean for many reasons and I believe light and water are besties in my world.

Thanks for reading me, please enjoy life as much as you can and I hope you get to enjoy my work as well.

Light & Love,

Teresa.

Final touches

Hi guys,

July is looking good!, I’m back to my craft and feeling aligned with the universe, praying every day for things to get better and for us to be healthy. My head is full of visions and dreams and although I might feel limited in so many aspects, that doesn’t stop me to keep moving forward. Today I feel good, today Is going to be great and things around me are happening. Thank you universe for listening and I’m sorry if I sometimes can not see the signals you’ve sent me.

best,

Teresa.

Turn me on

Hey,

What’s something you’ve done that made your adrenaline go up but at the same time made you feel calm? I know this may contradict that thought and might seem scientifically impossible or maybe I’m just using the wrong words for it but I have a couple examples about that, one of those takes me to the image I’m sharing on this post. What you see here is a photo of my neon rose at the beach, it was around 5am, I had the beach all for myself, I wasn’t afraid but excited to see this beautiful sculpture turned on, once I finished installing and connecting the cables my adrenaline started to go up, but I was very still in one position admiring the movement of the waves, what a fantastic moment I experienced that dawn I felt so much piece and calm but felt the adrenaline rushing inside me as well… Anyway, I hope you’re healthy and constantly working on make your visions and dreams come true and real,

best,

Teresa.

Last stop and feeling JOYFUL

I hope someday I can inspire some of you to go somewhere by yourself. I know is a little weird going some places alone but is actually really good for your soul, every single time i’ve been on a trip, short or long, I get to connect more with myself and I come back home feeling really good, inspired, healthy, energized and with a lot of positive thoughts. I know a lot of people that never go out and never do anything fun because they need to be with someone else, you shouldn’t wait for anyone to go with you if you really want to, just book that ticket, rent a car or take the train! Make a list of places you want to visit and start planning.

My bucket list is long but i’ve crossed many things from it already and I will continue to do so as soon as is safe to travel. I really wanted to go to the PNW and visit other National Parks this summer but the pandemic happened, in the meantime, i’m planning my next adventure here in NY and that will be underwater… Stay tuned.

I’m sharing these photos I took in Davenport, California in 2019, this place was the last stop on my itinerary from my road trip, right after here I drove straight to the San José airport to fly back home in Brooklyn, NY. I hope you get the vibe,

Besos,

Teresa.

Studio selfie, Neon Flower

Hi guys,

Just wanted to share a picture of me and one of my neon flowers, just recently picked it up from the neon shop, I had it there since 2019 I think, btw, can you tell i’m a bit tanned? I’ve been getting kissed by the sun and feels great! I’m also wearing a beautiful traditional Mexican shirt that my dear sister friend got me from Veracruz and is so cute!!!

I hope everyone can have a great summer, be nice to others and follow your gut or the universe guides if possible!

Love,

Teresa.

Escapadas: Montauk, The end of the world.

You might know or not that i’m terribly afraid to sharks but I also know the chances of getting bit by one are very low, hey I’ve seen Shark week! and other sharks documentaries, so I got into the water that day at Ditch Plains and I couldn’t even feel how cold it was because the adrenaline was so high! Honestly, I felt amazing, I can’t wait to go back to the water again.

Montauk is such a small town, so pretty, clean and really far away from the craziness of the city, is at the very end of Long Island, they call it “The end of the world”, this was my 4th time there. Sunset that day didn’t disappoint…

See you again soon.

Teresa.

Pride month #lgbtq

Hi friends, is pride month and I thought this pretty rainbow rose a saw at a store was just perfect to symbolize the date. Is hard for me to express myself in English sometimes and more with topics with so many political issues so I must be careful with my words, what I really want to say is that I love you and I support you no matter what’s you’re sexual orientation, we’re equal and there’s a long way for everyone to learn and to move forward with laws and changes.

I will see you soon hopefully!

Escapadas: Jones BeAch

Jones Beach is located in Long Island, NY, Is only about an hour from Brooklyn, which is the same amount of time if i take the subway to Rockaway but I’m no taking public transportation these days so i rented a car and instead and headed to a beach I’ve never been before, for me it was really worth the trip because I was looking for an isolated clean beach and this one hit the spot, i‘m sure later in the summer this beach will be packed but still is nice and has a huge parking lot and restrooms. As always I try to enjoy my escapades and this was no exception, I walked along the boardwalk, got a little tan and took some photos, I’m so glad I brought a jacket because it got a little chilly in the afternoon.
See you next time.

"I FEEL YOU"

By the ocean is when I feel the presence of the absent the most, “ I FEEL YOU” is a work that expresses my thoughts and reflexions about the absence and the presence of the people we love that is no longer physically around us but we feel connected to them, there is irony in the concept; “I FEEL YOU” is a message I send to the most amazing natural things that Mother Earth gives us, the ocean, the sun, wildlife, flowers, rocks, trees, etc.

I’m so thrilled to share with you this light work i’ve created to celebrate the presence and the absence of a soul or a place we feel connected to.

“I Feel you” is my message to those i love the most, is a love letter to the ocean and nature and is the way I honor “your presence” and live “your absence”.

On October 4th of 2010 I lost my father due to sudden heart and respiratory problems, it was a surprise and I was devastated, my dad was gone. He would’ve been 71 years old today on June 11th 2020, Its been 10 years since he is not physically with me but he is present in my heart. This piece I dedicate to him!

Light & love for you always,

Teresa.
