Alone in the world
Kosciuszko bridge
This is the first time I walk this bridge, I wasn’t planning on doing it but I was coming back from Long Island and the sun was about to set so I thought it was a good idea to park and walk to the center of it so I can admire the sunset, i’m so glad I did, the view was great and I was able to share a video and some photos with my mom who I miss tons.
The Bridge connects Greenpoint with Maspeth, Queens and is 1.14 miles. Who was Kosciuzsko? It was a Polish General who helped the Colonist during the Revolutionary War, this is all according to Google, you might wanna go deeper on books or the web if you’re looking for more info.
Anyway, what’s your favorite Bridge in New York? Do you ever walk them or just drive by? Sending you kisses with a mask and lots of love,
Teresa.
A rose for justice
escapadas: Robert Moses state park
Oh hiii! The other day I packed my beach essentials in a 99cents cooler and I went to Long Island for a beach day, I drove to Robert Moses State Park which is right next to the Fire Island National Seashore, so beautiful beaches, it took me around 40 minutes to get there from my home in Brooklyn.
I really enjoyed my beach time, I had time to read a book, think about love and life and had fun taking photos under the sun, I couldn’t go inside the water , it was cold and i’m just too afraid of sharks but I’m working on it and I promise this summer I will go deeper into the water. These are some snaps I captured. I went to another beach after, I will share those photos on a later post. Adiós.
Greetings from New York
I love New York, is been home for 8 years now, I never thought I would end up living here all these years but I truly believe i need to be here right now, i’m not done with this place and i’m still growing.
Where did you move from? and Where are you going next?
Best always,
Teresa.
Lenticular Postcard
Hey friends, i just posted on my shop a new LENTICULAR POSTCARD for you! It’s such a cool piece of art , measures 5X7, this postcard is from an art installation that I photographed in March at Laguna Beach in California, the name of the neon sculpture/artwork is “Neon Rose (This is how I say I love you)”. Some of us believe that giving a flower, rose, carnation, sunflower, plants, etc, to someone means that you like/care/love that person, this artwork represents me offering a rose to the ocean, the sun, nature and also to the presence of the people I love and miss the most so i decided to put it on a postcard. Get one and write a message on the back of it to someone you love or you haven’t seen in a while, you will make them feel loved, let’s make this happen and spread the love together, with my work and with your words.
I can't believe Memorial Day Weekend is here
Hi, just sharing these photos with the world wide web, it was just me at my studio having fun, feeling comfortable, playful and sexy, no makeup and no shame; is good to feel that way right? I’m normally shy. Also, how is it possible that Memorial Day weekend is here? Time seems passing by TURBO MODE and life is not the same than from it was a year ago… I’m still the same, except a better version of myself.
Please stay well and wear a mask out there.
Besos.
Escape
Week #9
Hey!, I feel like I can’t do May, I wish we can skip this month and we can go straight to June so I can be outside and go to the beach on a sunny June day. * * * Update, last week of May got a little better, still craving for that Sunny June days tho * * *
I’m sharing this photo of this beautiful place in Big Sur, Ca., McWay falls! As you all probably know I live in New York and I love it, it’s been my home for the past 8 years but I also love California, in 2019 I spent a lot of time there. Mc Way falls was part of my itinerary from a road trip I did on September and it didn’t disappoint me, I got to this specific spot right before sunset, I felt like I wasn’t precisely there but on a different place, maybe in a “Distant Island” per se, is so amazing!
Going back to my travels photos, helps me so much when I feel a little down because I revive those moments and they make me remember how lucky I am sometimes for many reasons. I want to physycally escape somewhere away from here but I can’t right now so in the meantime i’m just mentally escaping to those places I adore like Big Sur.
Hasta pronto!,
Teresa.
"Tiny Human"
This is one of my favorite photos I took last year, I have so many great memories from my trips, i’m so thankful I was able to be present in this exact moment when the sun was about to set. This photo was taken in Santa Cruz, California, you can see a person there in the middle, he was the only surfer in this beach, he seemed focus and calm, It was a beautiful day, I can’t imagine that feeling of being in the middle of the ocean waiting and waiting and waiting for that opportunity to “ride that wave”, trying, again and again without getting drowned or without getting bit by a shark… I can’t express with more words but there’s so much more behind this image and this analogy, I just wanna say I hope you never stop trying and you ride great waves in your life.
I can’t wait to visit the West Coast again.
Be safe,
Teresa.
"Montañas y nieve"
This is my new artwork called “Montañas y nieve (mountains and snow)”, I bent this glass tube without a pattern, just by looking at my sketch on my iPad, It was a fun challenge that I enjoyed it so much, I don’t normally bend this way but I remember that day I was open to do something different on my process.
The idea of this “painting” came up in January 2020, I went snowshoeing to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and I couldn’t chose a better day to do it, it was beautiful and sunny, still cold but beareble, it was my first time practicing this activity too; while I was going up hill, I noticed the reflection of the sun in the snow and that got my attention really bad, I never really felt so attracted to that before although I’ve seen it many times here in New York. So I ended up taking a couple pictures of it to bring home with me and enjoyed the rest of the adventure in the snowy mountains, that inspired me to make this beautiful artwork, I used diminutive reflective glass beads that creates a similar light reflection effect, I hope you like appreciate it, i’m happy with how it came out, is just like my sketch.
Kiss,
Teresa.
P.S. You can see more of “Distant Island” pieces here.
"The visitors" and "Feminine Ways"
The other day I thought about how beautiful was to watch this art installation/performance by Icelandic Artist Ragnar Kjartansson, this 9 channel installation is called "The Visitors" the lyrics are from a poem called "Feminine Ways" by Ásdís Sif Gunnarsdóttir. I’m sharing this video I found on you tube today because I got to see the whole video again and I payed attention to the lyrics on the poem and it was so enlightening!
I was lucky to see this show for the first time at “The Broad” in Los Angeles in 2019 and later on the Dallas Museum of Art in November of the same year, is so wonderful, please take a look at it, I hope you like it, the artist himself appears in the video next to some of his friends which are playing an instrument in a different room at the same house somewhere in Upstate New York, at some point they all get together but they keep playing and singing, is so wonderful.
Here is the poem:
(Which by the way reminded me of how I feel when i’m taking photos of my roses at the ocean, it really spoke to me)
“A pink rose In the glittery frost
A diamond heart
And the orange red fire
Once again I fall into My feminine ways
You protect the world from me
As if I’m the only one who’s cruel
You’ve taken me
To the bitter end
Once again I fall into My feminine ways
There are stars exploding
And there is nothing you can do”
Hopefully very soon
The weather is now officially beautiful in New York! So I decided to ride a bike all the way to Dumbo from Williamsburg so I can see the water, feel the sun and workout a little bit, so much carbs these days, u know?
These times are really tough for all of us and nothing that I say or do is going to make a huge difference, but maybe you will enjoy these photos and see how much beauty there’s around us and forget what’s going on for 2 seconds. I truly believe we’re going to be fine, hopefully very soon.
Kiss,
Teresa.
"I see a distant horizon..."
As part of my new collection of artwork called “Distant Island”, i’m exploring and really enjoying painting with watercolor and acrylics, I’ve used diminutive reflective glass beads in these new series of paints that keeps my light attraction present. Some of these works will feature a neon piece as well. I see a distant horizon in a place i’ve never been present before but i’ve seen a version of it in past travels. I’m deeply inspired by the snow and the sunlight and the effect that creates, the isolation and the fear of being alone in a place away from home.
I can’t wait to show you more of this.
Light & Fragile love,
Teresa.
Dear Georgia
This painting right below (“Hibiscus with Plomeria”, 1939) is one of my favorites. I just wanted to post it and share with you. I love her painting style, so much beauty and femininity. Thank you Georgia, you gave us a lot of beautiful works.
I’m booking a trip to Hawaii someday and i’ll imitate your exploration in the Island, I might add more beautiful things to my “Distant Island” collection.
Enjoy the colors,
Teresa.
Good and bad days nowadays
I miss the beach, I miss taking photos of roses at the sunset, I wish I could be somewhere in California right now by the beach, i’m also happy to be in New York, here is home. I have good days and bad days too, just like everyone else; We are in this together and we will get back to our normal activities soon, I hope, renewed and with a different perspective in life. Trying to stay positive and hang in there! Writing helps, looking at beautiful photos helps too. Dreaming is always my escape so I do that every single day.
This is a photo of a beautiful rose, it was also one of the best sunsets from last year, the sky was unreal. I’m not expecting you see it the way I see it, but these photos I take bring me joy and I mean to spread joy if I can.
:*
Sunset thoughts
Hi,
it’s me, just putting some thoughts here and sharing this photo of a Big Sur sunset, it was so so beautiful, i’m gonna go back there someday.
I really miss the bombawhogoesoutonadventuresandwatchesthesunset , I can’t wait for the hard times to be over, the uncertainty is really getting into my head and my thoughts are getting foggy. I don’t like this version of myself because it makes me feel sad. I also had planned a trip to the PNW at the end of this summer but that is now postponed until god knows when, I was so excited about that, it was keeping my mind busy. In the meantime, I’m checking out my photo albums to revive the trips i’ve made in the past couple years, i’ve seen wonderful things.
Best, Teresa.
Watercolor Art
Hello,
This is a small paint I made the other day, is part of a new collection of art pieces I'm working on, there’s neon, watercolor, acrylic and glass beads involved, is called “Distant Island”.
This watercolor takes me to a place where I can find peace and the most amazing landscapes i’ve seen, there i’m isolated in peace, exploring myself and exploring new unseen land.
You can but this print on my shop for only $8 dollars (unframed)
Thank you.
Earth Day
HAPPY EARTH DAY EVERYBODY!
I hope we can take a moment to think about our dear planet, we live in a wonderful place, nature is amazing and we must respect it and take care of it everyday, is hard to do so because we are so busy living in routine that we forget about it.
Maybe we can eat less meat and recycle more and be nice to each other every day. Have a wonderful day and don’t forget to respect our Mother Nature as well as live in it to the fullest.
I wanted to share these photos below, they are from a trip I made to Big Sur on September 2019, on my way there from Carmel I wanted to make a quick stop for my roses photoshoot in Garrapata Beach and a small valley of lilies, it was such a beautiful day, please enjoy. We are so lucky to be living in this land with so much nature!
Best always,
Teresa.
